Aquatic WEED ALERT

Added 25th of August 2010
Cabomba

The highly noxious weed Cabomba has been found in Lake Kurwongbah.

Cabomba is a introduced noxious weed the is extremely invasive and very difficult to control. Dense infestations interfere with the recreational use of a water body. Cabomba also crowds out other native species of plant.

It is vital that all Lake Samsonvale Boating Access Permit Holders are aware of the possibilities of accidental transference of weeds form another water body into Lake Samsonvale.

Golden Rule:

Never release plants, fish or animals into a body of water unless they came from that body of water.

For more information on Cabomba and other noxious weeds head over to QLD DPI website or contact us at info@prfma.com.au.

Boating Access Scheme 2010/2011 (BAS) - Update

Added 22nd of July 2010

At the last General Meeting of The Pine Rivers Fish Management Association Inc held on Wednesday 6th July 2010 the following resolution was passed unanimously.

  • All occupants of a Canoe or Kayak must wear a suitable PFD
  • All Children under the age of 12 in a powered vessel must wear an appropriate sized PFD
  • All vessels must carry at all times the appropriate PFD’s for each person on board that vessel, together with oars or paddles and suitable Bailing Equipment. ** Sit on Kayaks do not require Bailing Equipment.

It is strongly recommended that permit holders adopt these requirements immediately and that they become mandatory when new permits are issued. The Deed of Agreement will be amended to include the above safety requirements and will be effective upon signing. As per the above motion the PRFMA strongly recommend that all current permit holders adopt these safety requirements immediately for their own benefit..
